Raw materials are the simplest family to quote and the least forgiving to get wrong, because the specification is narrow and the volumes are large.
What has to be verified
Grade, purity and moisture, confirmed by analysis at origin rather than declared. For volume shipments, the sampling method matters as much as the result it produces.
How pricing works here
Commodity prices move, so a landed cost has a validity window and we state it. A quotation without an expiry date on a commodity is not a quotation, it is an illustration.
Volume and timing
Freight is a larger share of landed cost in this family than in any other. Consolidating shipments or shifting a delivery window by a few weeks often saves more than renegotiating the goods price.
